Artist Statement - Thesis Work
Kaleidoscope, derived from the Greek, meaning “observation of beautiful forms.”
The goal of this project is to treat painting as a devotional act and a time of meditation. I proceed slowly and carefully through the intricate detail. It is a long and arduous process; paying close attention to details, the contours of the lines, the focus on color. These paintings are meant to draw the viewer in and create a meditative state where color will determine how the viewer will respond.
The project has taught me to appreciate and immerse myself in the process. The paintings mirror the journey of my life. It is long, difficult at times, and fleeting, too, if I am not paying attention.
